During the pandemic, Mid-South Ice House co-owner Jack Rogers was concerned that the rink would close, so he ordered the ice to be removed to expose the sand-based floor and allow people to skate inside, even if just for a short time. Whether it’s to take in some public skating sessions or cheer on the ACHA Ole Miss and University of Memphis hockey teams, you’ll find family fun activities at Mid-South Ice House. This is the area’s only regulation-sized indoor ice arena, and it offers public skating and drop-in hockey games, so everyone in your family can get on the ice and enjoy the thrill of skate sports. After the rink, grab a bite at America’s Incredible Pizza Company or let off some steam at Go Kart Raceway or glow-in-the-dark mini golf. Attend the ice show and watch local skaters demonstrate their athletic and artistic talents in the 5th annual holiday Theater On Ice production – THE POLAR EXPRESS. Food & Drink

Guests can easily grab a bite to eat or drink before or after skating at the rink. There are a few local spots nearby like Hammer & Ale, where you can sample a flight of Memphis-made beers and nosh on underrated pimento grilled cheese and spicy potato chips. Celtic Crossing is a neighborhood favorite for Irish whiskeys and tasty pub food, including the always-popular chitterlings and fried catfish.

For something more casual, City Silo opened this past March in the former Greek Gourmet Kitchen spot on South Main. This cute new place serves fresh, healthy eats like poke bowls and rolled ice cream, plus bubble tea and juices.

Cameo, a craft cocktail bar owned by some of the top bartenders in town, opened in the downtown Citizen building in mid-March 2022.
